Our History

Guards Farm is a family owned and managed 450 acres working beef and sheep Farm . The farm has been in our family since 1958 and we are the 3rd generation of farmers with a herd of 70 limousine cows and  700 breeding sheep. The farm is also home to ponies,  Pygmy Goats, cats, dogs, ducks, hens and Guinea fowl so no shortage of characters to meet here.

Like many, farms are now having to look into options to diversify, having a small Shepherd hut site has been a vision for the family for many years and we now feel the time was right to branch out into this new venture.  So in the summer of 2024 the work started in creating our site for our first hut with the aim of welcoming visitors in the spring of 2025.

We live in such a beautiful corner of the Lakes which is relatively underdeveloped  in terms of tourism compared to the heart of Lake District which is always much busier.  We therefore wanted to give people the chance to come visit and  explore this stunning area whilst having a luxury and memorable break away and a wonderful shepherds hut experience.
